With a title inspired by the author’s trip to Borders seeing “yet another best-selling book about someone’s adorable out-of-control dog, “Another Bad-Dog Book by Joni B. Cole is so much more than that.
This reviewer found the subtitle an apt hint at the book’s contents, with each of the tales told giving us a chance to hear the author say many of the things that, if we are honest with ourselves, we may have thought to ourselves, but would never actually say out loud.
“When I returned to my seat, no one seemed to notice that I was wearing what amounted to a skin-tight, see-through, soaking-wet-t-shirt. At first I was relieved, but then it occurred to me – why hadn’t anyone noticed, not even the young guy in the seat beside me?”
From the first tale of her own bad dog, to the last tale of the year of the dog in the Chinese zodiac, Cole presents a collection of essays to which readers will relate and for them to enjoy. These surround 26 equally interesting insights into life, love, and the neurotic human behavior that somehow always finds a way into our lives and our loves. This easily read, and very easily related to book, is a joy.
